Waste Of Time Chasing Covid Vaccination Shots

We just wasted over 2 hours trying to get Covid vaccine shots. We have been unable to get appointments in Florida through either the online or phone systems. But a friend called yesterday and said he'd just gotten his without an appointment, at a drive-thru site a few miles from us. And he was offereing to drive us himself this morning.

So we got up early today and left at 6:30 in our friend's car, and were in a long snaking line of cars about 10 minutes later in a grassy field. We knew shots wouldn't begin until 8. Around 8:20 some car movement began, and we saw uniformed National Guard troops start to circulate among the waiting cars.

They were telling us it was reservation only, not drive-up. We were told there had been drive-thru yesterday, and planned for today, too, but shots were cancelled late last night, due to insufficient vaccine availability. The word was never sent to the public. In fact, a board as you drove in said "No Appts Needed".

"Yeah, we forgot to change that," they replied. But instead we were given a brand new telephone number to make appointments. So as we left I called that number from my cell. It just prompted you to enter your birthday, ZIP, and voice contact number. Then the recorded voice said a "representative" would phone back to make an actual appointment as they became available.

The old appt. number is now obsolete, as is the online site. So now we wait for the call-back, but I'm still checking the online site of our pharmacy chain, that's also giving shots, but not in our county yet. There's also our hospital, but their phone line is either constantly busy or gives an "overloaded" signal.

President Biden is inheriting a seriously dysfunctional system, if you can call it a system at all. No wonder so few shots have been administered. It's certainly not from lack of people trying to get them, and willing to drive some miles and wait in long lines outdoors for them. Apparently there are far fewer doses available than the Trump Admin led us to believe, that may be getting distributed poorly.

More LIES and misinformed babble out of you. What a mess you are. Nearly 20 million vaccines have been administered (and over 50 million worldwide). This has been made possible by 3 major FDA approved vaccines coming to the marked in remarkable record time thanks to "Operation Warp Speed". This is the Facts. The mobilization to get these vaccines to the people has been a massive undertaking, like nothing that has even been done, and it's being rolled out as quickly as the vaccines can be manufactured, packaged, and distributed. No president can just snap their fingers and have 300 million doses of anything available overnight. Over 2 million vaccines doses are being administered daily. Try getting your facts straight.

My neighbor (she'll be 90 tomorrow) got one yesterday, here in LA. She had an appointment (no drive-up service here) and said it was very efficiently handled; the wait was very short. Sounds to me like it all depends on whether the local authorities have their act together.

All I'm hearing from Fart Echo is wha, wha, wha, wha. Like a Bonafide Karen.

Possums have you forgotten that, when President Trump took over from Obama's Divided States of America. You Dumbocrats and Libtards declared that. Obama is now gone, thus its Trumps fault.

So since your beloved Dumbocrats set this president, it's now all on Old Joe's fault, and nothing to do with President Trump, because he has now left the building.
    So suck it up princess.

You posted this in the right forum too, because you whinging and whinging, is ever so gay.

BINGO! You are only as good as your local authorities in terms of a national plan being effective in each locality. Some are just better than others. It's encouraging that a large city like LA is doing it well.

Sorry that didn't work out, Art_D, but you are doing the right thing tracking down every lead and making the effort to "be there." We're retired, we got the time, and right now there is no better way to use it. I did get the 1st shot in SC on 1/13 through just that sort of vigilance (and serendipity). And I got the booster scheduled for 2/3. Also did some long-distance sleuthing and got my Dad scheduled for his in NE Ohio while the ones who actually live there are sitting back and calling the situation "hopeless." I guess they're expecting the invitation to come by special messenger on a red velvet pillow with gold trim. This is a battle and I know you got the chops for that. Just keep at it and best of luck to both of you

Shocking! Important people like you - who just days ago hosted the Mayor at your private table at the inauguration - should not have such difficulties!

So from what I have heard that medical professionals, and the elderly get first priority on the Vaccine. Being part of the medical field, I have yet to receive mine. A few of my colleagues have gotten theirs but only through sheer diligence of checking websites; constantly. Some I know also had to travel out of the city to even get theirs. Right now it's pretty messy, but hopefully we can get through the months ahead safely.

    Amen brother.
Also whats the importance of someone in the last few years of their life, and one who doesn't contribute to the broder community.

Such people should be way down the list of priorities. As there are more important people ahead of them.

    Actually the next 12 years.

Harris will assume the office of the Presidency on January 21, 2023. She will then "win" the elections of 2024 and 2028.

Yeah, that made the news here. Our brain-dead Republican Governor DeSantis had issued an order that anyone over age 65 would receive the vaccine shot first. But he added no other requirements.

Like being a Florida resident, or even a US citizen. So people from foreign countries began flocking here. It's called "vaccine tourism", and it denies doses to US-Florida residents. But perfectly legal, under the Governor's order. Be 65+ and you get a shot, no matter what your country.

The media outcry finally made the Governor add some additional restrictions. Better late than never, I suppose. icon_razz.gif

In the case of Florida, yes, still suffering the after-affects of Trump. Florida's disastrous vaccine response, and now the screwed-up vaccine roll-out, is due to our Republican Governor DeSantis. Who is Trump's animal, his political clone. DeSantis owes his office to Trump, and has done everything Trump has wanted.

Trump is gone (thank gawd), but his legacy lives on in our inept Governor. Trump's creature.

You are blessed to have Ron DeSantis as your Governor. Think of the bullet you dodged by not having that other wretched creature that came shamefully close to being your governor.

I’ve have the feeling it will be for another 4 years. And It won’t be In the news unless it is Trump’s fault. In our New Monarchy the king rules by edicts and the congress Is just there for encouragement.

Sorry it depends the county, and local officials, here in FL...again Art_Deco is incorrect that is the Federal Govt. responsibility- Gov. DeSantis is doing an amazing job here in Florida. First to implement, Publix (grocery) stores, arenas, houses of worships, even now Dentists are volunteer to administer the vaccine. This is leadership and working with the local communities to do so, not the Federal Govt. My mother (80) is in assisted living here in Florida, I just signed the informed consent and spoke with ALS administrator - she will be receiving the Pfizer vaccine the 1st week in February. My father is 90 also here in Florida, in West Palm Beach vaccination continues but all slot of vaccinations were booked. A queue will be opening through the Health Department via Publix to register for his vaccine on January 27th- which I will enroll.

I have no plans on getting the vaccine. I only got a Flu Vaccine once in my life and a month later had the worst flu I've ever had. No vaccines for me
