Like I said in another thread on this subject, I feel this is a tragedy.
I always believed that if everybody agreed with each other on everything, then this would be a very boring world indeed, wouldn't it?
I have posted some very controversal posts on RJ in the last few months I've been a member. That exactly what forums are all about. When there are disagreements, one gets to know the person who responds. Believe me, Iam looked upon with contempt by some members, I'm not on anybody's hot or buddy lists, my sexuality is disputed, and as a Creationist, I'm seen as ignorant and out of touch with the real world of science. But I would never block anyone's post. Two reasons at least. First, I'm blessed with a tough skin. I can take stick very well, and really, all I'm doing is reading text on a computer screen which is totally under my control. A person can call me all sorts of nasty things, and I have learned as a RJ member, to just smile.
Secondly, I think it is childish to block someone just because he had typed in something the respondant didn't like.
This has happened to me, around Christmas last year, when one RJ member had a link to his MySpace profile. I tried to get through to him several times and in each case I was totally ignored by him, even when I tried to put a question to him about a health issue. Finally I emailed a letter of rebuke, quoting a item or two from his Myspace profile. Guess what, he set his profile to private, so nobody outside his circle of friends can now see his profile. It is so futile and pathetic. It is to his loss, just because he did not like what he read on his computer screen. And he calls himself a doctor - although actually he isn't a doctor. It is such a shame for someone who believes to be so well educated can act so childishly.
And by the way, I could bet my bottom dollar that he has already blocked my posts and will not be able to read this one - some "doctor".
