Relatively new to site, meeting nice guys all around...now I thought I'd post...I know I am no six/8 pack ab guy...wouldn't we all want to be? However, I've noticed that when I stand, my stomach and abs flatten out (realtively speaking, but I am not embarrassed standing wiht no shirt on)...now when I sit down...my stomach comes back!!!!!!!!!! The answer to this is probably obvious, but any insight and/or solutions are welcomed. My trainer does not beleive in lots of ab work since we are using our abs stabilizing...etc.

Our Ab muscles are a wall of muscle that keep our internal organs in our stomachs from distending out
When we sit this pressure from inside increases and the Abs have to work harder...
the stronger your abs are the less distention you'll have
    also posture comes into play
if you slouch when you sit instead of sitting with your back straight your stomach will stick out more

It is also how the abs are attached to the skeleton. When you sit your skeleton folds, your back muscles stretch, and your abs are no longer stretched, thus becoming more relaxed.
