It occurred to me as I was reading the forums that I had many things to be thankful for and one of them is all you guys who spent Thanksgiving away from home because you are serving our country. And yes, without being too political, I think all of our military personnel and those who put themselves into harm's way in Afghanistan, Iraq, the Middle East and basically throughout the world are serving our country. I want to include in this all military personnel whether on active duty, retired, reserve and everybody regardless of where you are stationed right now.

You are now or have put your lives on the line to serve us and ultimately keep us safe. Your families back in the states suffer because they are not with you and fear for you every day. I am nothing, just an Air Force fledgling who didn't go the military route, but a retired Lt. Col. friend who was in Iraq in Desert Storm said this when and during the time his son was on the ground in Iraq, "You know, I think it was easier being over there than having to stay here and wonder how my son is doing."

I don't know if I would go that far, but I just want you to know that I appreciate what you guys do for us. Even those who are not military, but contractors are putting their lives on the line, and I thank you also. It's too bad you have to live with the don't ask don't tell policy.

Anyway, thanks and God bless you and your families.
