Update 10/01/09 - - Well, my set back was a little worse than I thought. I had a little trouble in life and had to give up on the gym for several months. I began eating McDonalds and fast food several times a week. I almost gave up in general. About two months ago, I woke one morning thinking WTF am I doing?!?! So, I'm back in the gym, back on track with my eating and trying to lose an extra 35 pounds which I gained over 4 to 5 months. On a side note, I fell in love with a guy that can't love me back. Life Sucks Right. LOL Anyway, wish me luck. I'm back on track.

Update 04/05/09 -- It's been all most a year since I've updated. Everything is going great. I've had a few set backs over the last year, but nothing to serious. I've gained some, but I've also been building and I need to take some new pics. Still having a problem with flattening these man boobs.. lol I will say my chest is starting to develope a lot more. I have many friends at the gym that keep me encouraged and on the right path. I've just recently met a new friend that moved to the area not long ago and I'm excited about that as well. I hope everyone is doing well. WOOT!!

Update 05/31/08 -- It's been two months since I've updated, so here goes. I'm going to start building fulltime the end of July. I can't wait. It's what I've been waiting for over a year a now. I'm already in a 34 waist when in comes to shorts and jeans, but my dress slacks are a still a 36. Depends on the brands you wear I'm sure. I'm actually around 230lbs at this time. I know it's not fat, so it must be what lean muscle I've already gained. I'm sure either way; my fat percentage will continue to decrease as my lean muscle increases. Especially with all the protein shakes I have with snacks between meals. I spoke with my trainer about taking my exam next winter. Jason, my trainer, has agreed to take me under his wing and guide me through. I like his method of training and have understood his method while going through the process myself. The excitement is still here and hasn't left. Going on two years since my first steps, walking 3 miles every night at the park. Though I have given up the park for the gym and a trainer, I still walk it on occasion reflecting on where I've been and where I'm still headed.
    Life Is Grand.
Update 03/30/08 -- What a month.... a few weeks back my trainer went out of country on a fishing trip leaving me to my own cardio. I've learned a lot since Jan07 and I thank Jason for what he has done for me. But, the last day we worked out together, I had also moved some files at work which I shouldn't have done alone. Of course two days later, you start to feel what you've done and Jason wasn't around. Even though I still can see the last of the bruises on my chest fading away, I just thought the pain in my lower back was due to my overly tight hamstrings. I continued my cardio thinking it would eventually work its way out. The next weekend I even worked my legs using equipment and weights hoping to help loosen them up and kept stretching. I still had not realized at this point IT WAS AN INJURY. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. It had always been my hamstrings in the past, so I was treating my lower back in that respect. My trainer finally returned from his trip and bitched me out. lol Ok, not that harsh, but still told me what all I was doing wrong. So for the last couple of weeks, I've gone to work and then home to ice my back while keeping motrin in my system. All to help keep the inflammation down. I hope to start back at the gym TOMORROW!! WOO HOO!! We'll see. lol I feel like a PIG and like I've gained several pounds, but that's the way the cookie crumbles..... and let me tell you. When you're depressed with your back and you can't workout, no sex, your new laptop is on backorder and the latest rainstorm outted your satellite.... YOU EAT!!! LMAO... There's nothing else TO do. Anyway, I've got to get back on track, so I used this weekend to go out with a bang. Hamburger Steak with GRAVY!!, STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE with ICECREAM!!! & WHIP CREAM!! I had fun. Now it's back to eating healthy. It's been over a year...... I needed it. lol Hope you guys are all doing well.
Update 01/23/08 -- I hope everyone is having a great new year. So far, mine has been excellent. My trainer has decided to cut me back on my cardio. We're still using weights to lose the last 2 inches along with some cardio, but not as much as before. Jason says I don't look as if I weigh as much as I do and he doesn't want my cardio to cut into the lean muscle I have gained over the last year. I plan to lose the last 2 inches and start building by the summer. Everyone at the gym knows I have plans to get my certification as a personal trainer and are very supportive of me. I hope to do so by the first of next year. I want to get at least 6 months of building time in before taking the exam and whatever else is needed for the certification. One of the gym owners has already given me a book to start studying up so I'm excited. Life is great and I hope to one day help others as much as these guys have helped me. They're like my second family.
Update 12/24/07 -- HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!! Recently I posted an update about losing inches and how great it was to be able to wear my 38 jeans and be very very comfortable in them. Well, after two weeks or so of being comfortable, I decided to buy a new pair of jeans. I thought I would buy a pair of 36 jeans which would encourage me to work hard; as a short term goal. So I pick out a pair of Levis and a pair of Wranglers before making my way to the mens dressing area. I go in and decide to try the Levis on first. I put them on. Let me rephrase that last sentence. I PUT THEM ON WITH NO PROBLEM AND THEY FIT COMFORTABLY!! Needless to say, I was completely shocked. So I thought, it's just the brand and decided to try the Wranglers. I GOT THE SAME RESULT!! Of course I'm thrilled beyond belief at this point and have to try on a 34 waist just to see. They were skin tight, but I got them on. WOO HOO!!! Merry Christmas to me. I've worked really hard this past year since hiring a personal trainer in January(07) and I'm looking forward to this next year as well. I hope to begin truly building by the end of Spring, the first of Summer. I CAN'T WAIT!!! One thing I do know and have been complimented on. After losing almost 100 lbs in the last year and half, I don't have any hanging skin or in need of a tuck here and there. Thank God. The stretch marks aren't even as bad as I thought they would be. So far so good. I hope everyone has a HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON. LANCE

Update 12/09/07 -- I've lost inches!!! WOO HOO!!! This past week I put on my jeans and realized, I PUT THEM ON. I know that sounds weird, but they fit soooo comfortably. I was in shock. They weren't tight or just fitting or anything. I was soooo freakin' happy!!! I've lost a few more lbs in the process recently and have decided to try something again this week. I remember two weeks ago I made a big pot of home made chili and it took several days to eat it all. Now granted, I didn't eat it every meal or even every day, but I did eat it often during the week. I'm thinking filling, yet not too heavy. So this week I've decided to make another pot. I love the stuff anyway. Beans are great and the beef I use is lean. That and I am the Turkey King. I love my Turkey Chili as well as Chicken. Anyway, my latest weigh-in is 229.8 lbs and falling. Getting closer to my goals all the time. Happy Holidays Guys!!!

Update 11/24/07 -- What a Thanksgiving!!! WOO HOO!!! Here is a little slide show of me visiting Italy, Christmas 2003. I weighed A LOT!!! So I've come a very long way with losing 90 lbs in the last year. ENJOY!!

Update 11/14/07 -- Well my lowest weigh-in has been 233.2, but I've been sorta at a stand still recently which has been expected. My trainer has added some more weight in my training, though I'm still mainly trying to lose and not build. He did tell me tonight that he is seeing more definition in my chest. WOO HOO!! That sorta excited me as you can tell. I started working 2 1/2 months ago at a law firm and haven't adjusted properly with my eating. Though I have been eating almost every 2 1/2 hours, I haven't been eating enough and I've been sorta tired recently. My trainer explained the tiredness due to not eating enough. So I'm boiling the eggs and taking the tuna packs with me.
Update 10/13/07 -- The calorie watching has been paying off. My recent weigh-in was 236.2 and I'm more than thrilled. My trainer still does NOT want me to weigh as often as I do, but over the last 9 months I believe he's realized just how determined I am in changing my life for the better. I've also been able to see it in my body fat when looking in the mirror. When you look at yourself everyday, it's usually not that noticable. So it's great when you do happen to stand back, take notice and go WOW!! I'm going shopping for new clothes today. YAHOO!! I still have plans to one day become a personal trainer. Once I get my body fat down to where I want to be and start building up again, I plan to start boning up for the exam. I started as an orderly when I was 15 and have been in the medical clerical, pharmacy and management for 22 years; until recently. With the knowledge I've gained over the years, I'm hoping to improve on that which Jason has taught me already and help others the way he's helped me. P.s. I'm still single. lol Just thought I would throw that out there. Just in case. WINK!!

Update 9/25/07 -- Yesterday, I had one of the guys from the gym check my body fat. According to Brandon, my body fat is 19.4 percert (not sure of the system he used...every thing I have read and have tried doing, still says 30...). My latest weigh in was 241 lbs. WOOT!! I have been doing really well on watching my caloric intake. I still eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours and started buying the South Beach Lunchables. That's not what they're called, but they can be found in the fridge section; not the freezer. For someone that eats several small meals a day, they're awesome. The Standard Whey in the oatmeal is great and the Icecream flavor taste like a vanilla shake with milk instead of water.
Update 9/8/07 -- My recent weigh in was 244.2 lbs YAHOO!! I wanted to list a recipe for eggs: Spray a bowl with pam or some other cooking spray, wisk up an egg or two (with or without cheese) and season to taste. Place in microwave for 30 seconds and then stir if you would like. Mainly cook the eggs for 1 - 2 minutes and you have the perfect scrambled egg without the mess and use of butter, oil or grease. Place on wheat and you're good to go!! I bought some more Gold Standard, the Vanilla Ice Cream this time. Not bad stuff. I was told to try putting it in my oatmeal for breakfast, that it's really good. I can't wait to try it and let you know.

Update 8/30/07 -- Well, I started watching my caloric intake and I have lost another 2.6 lbs in the past week. YAHOO!! Yesterday, my trainer pushed me a little more than usual. I say that because I'm still trying to lose weight with little weight & lots of reps, but I think he was interested in seeing how far I could go. This may seem like nothing to all of you, but for me starting at nothing in Jan. I'm estatic. lol I was using a chest press machine, if that's what you want to call it, and I warmed up with 70 lbs of weight and by the end of the session I gave 10 good reps at 150. Everytime we went back to the machine, he increased the weight. That wasn't the only machine he increased the weight, but thought it a good example. Granted, I can't wait to lift that in free weights, but it does help me in seeing my goals are obtainable. I know I still have years to go, but I'm excited!!
Update 8/14/07 -- I haven't lost that much weight recently, but I'm not depressed by it or anything. Since I've been adding some weight to my routine, I assume I've also gained some muslce. MUCH NEEDED MUSCLE...LOL I saw a forum on machines vs free weights(??). Anyway, my trainer does switch up my routine from time to time. I mainly work with machines because the free weights tire me quicker, but I'm lifting more with free weights each time I use them and I couldn't be happier. I'm not ashamed to lift 3% of what everyone else is you have to start somewhere right. MUCH NEEDED MUSCLE....LOL I have included some new man boob pics in my private photos section. HOPEFULLY, this time next year, they will look a lot more I'm Working Hard for It.

Update 7/3/07 -- I finally sat down with my trainer and asked why the change in training. Jason said He wanted to shock my body and shock the system. We are not going for a steady building program at the moment, just adding weight to build some muscle and burn more calories in the process of recovering. Some other people have asked me to chat about what I have done in order to accomplish my weight loss so far. Just recently I weighed-in at 250 lbs. YAHOO!!! I realize weight fluxes and Jason would prefer me NOT to weigh so I don't discourage myself, but I'm psyched and on a life long journey which I believe he has realized over the last 6 months. JUST SAW A COMMERICAL FOR "CAVEMEN" THIS FALL ON ABC....LOL I love those Geico Ok.. where was I.... I work out with weights twice a week, 30 minute sessions and cardio 5-6 days a week, usually an hour. The weights consist of one day, upper body and the other day, legs. The cardio is usually an hour, set to 20 minutes on 3 different machines, one usually being intense, such as random level 6 on the treadmill, hands on/hands off on the precore or switching levels and rmps on the bike. I have yet to take a spin class, but I think I would love it. So far, I have lost over 70 lbs since the last of August, first of September 2006. I'm still in my 38's but I'm wearing my clothes so much better these days. I was in a 42 waist last year when I first began walking 3 miles a day at the park each evening. I then gave up fried foods and white potatoes the first of December before finally joining the gym and hiring a personal trainer in Jan of this year. I wish everyone the best in all they do and encourage everyone, especially those just starting out, to take it one day at a time and remember to set realistic goals in order to follow through. Chat me up anytime if you would like to know more. LANCE

Hey guys, just wanted to tell a little more about myself, now that realjock has converted over to beta and there's more room.

Last summer(2006), I started a journey. It began when my little brothers best friend was found dead over his computer. The guy was just 28 years old and not a really a big boy, but he worked at a fast food place and ate crap all the time.

I had just met an old army buddy from Maryville, TN and visited him, his wife and kids in the mountains. During my stay, we visited the Lost Sea in Sweetwater, TN. The Lost Sea is an underground lake about 12 acres or so within a mountain and we had to walk out of the mountain 2 miles or so up hill. I asked God to let me die AFTER I reached the top. lol

Later that week, I realized for the first time, why I couldn't ride some of the roller coasters at Six Flags. I was just over 320 lbs. Since then, I have lost 70 lbs and will continue on my journey.

I first started by walking 3 miles everyday. This only lasted about 20 lbs. I found out later, you have to shock your body and JUST walking was nolonger beneficial.

Second, I began pushing away from the table. I even had problems with heartburn and just tired of eating for that alone. I found out later you have to shock your body again with foods and eat every 3 hours. I usually find myself hungry every 2 1/2.

Finally, I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer. Jason, my trainer, has been a life saver. I've learned so much from him. I will also say, this site is full of awesome information.

I've never been an athlete and starting late in life has its downsides. But the upsides are awesome!! I have the rest of my life to fulfill athletic goals I have set for myself. Sking on the slopes and many more. One guy in particular has been an inspiration in my life. I remember talking with him as a young man of 21 and now, years later, he is a true man. Tony / Coltboystud(360) from OK.

Living, breathing & eating healthier is the only way of accomplishing all that I want and have set out to do. I have a few more inches to lose before building with weights, but I am in training learning the different muscles and muscle groups. Love the gym and all that my trainer teaches and does for me. He's one great guy.

I'm not afraid of NSA, but I am more of a LTR oriented guy. I love people and care for people in general. Not that having a loving nature gets in the way, but for some, I'm sure it can be scary or think I'm moving to fast. I wear my heart on my sleeve.

I'm the type of guy that, though flirts a lot, believes in being physical only with the person he's involved. Not saying it's not ok for all of those type guys that have open relationships.
